CPAP & BiPAP Management
Not All Respiratory Patients Are Alike
Breathe Clinic offers CPAP and BiPAP management for patients suffering from sleep apnea, or other patients who may require breathing therapy. Because every person’s needs are unique, each treatment plan should be too. That’s why we offer CPAP and BiPAP to help you manage your respiratory needs in the best way for you.
What Is CPAP and BiPAP?
CPAP and BiPap machines allow patients to to breathe easily with no interruptions throughout the night. Both types provide therapy by delivering pressurized air through a mask into the airway. The air pressure reduces obstructions and prevents the throat muscles from collapsing.
What is the difference between CPAP and BiPAP?
CPAP machines provide a steady and continual stream of pressurized air to the airway, keeping it from collapsing. They can only be set to a single pressure that remains consistent throughout the night. Some CPAP machines gradually increase the pressure up to the prescribed setting, making it more comfortable when falling asleep. Once the pressure is reached, it remains constant throughout the night.
Patients who require higher pressure settings have trouble exhaling against the incoming air when using a CPAP. BiPAP machines have two pressure settings – one for inhaling, and one for exhaling, making them more comfortable for these patients. BiPAP will deliver a different pressure depending on whether the patient is inhaling or exhaling.
Patients with low oxygen levels, lung disorders and certain neuromuscular disorders also benefit from BiPAP therapy.
Based on your individual diagnosis, the physicians at Breathe Clinic will determine the most appropriate air pressure settings, form of therapy and long term management for you.
